Star Wars Y-WING Fighter model Pro-Built Ship MPC

This model kit was originally the kit offered by MPC. The kit itself is long out of production and asks a decent price tag in its original kit form. I'm a model & prop maker so a model in it's box is just that.... For this particular build I wanted to do a diorama.

I never throw out old kits and certainly never give up spare parts! With such a stash I thought hmmmm? I could make a Death Star Trench with all these parts! That's how they did it in the real movies! Once the trench was built I used a small curtain rod as the way to stand and hide the wires. By putting the rod in the side rather than the traditional spot, the model from many angles looks like it's actually in flight! Also by using the rod the model can actually pivot a bit. This way it can be displayed on the straight path, or the look of pulling out! Using 2 Orange/Red LED's as engines it completed the look! The lights are powered by one 9v battery that has an easy on off switch. The whole thing from end to end measures 11 inches long by 7 1/2 inches tall. I have been building for over 27 years and I have found myself doing work for Museums and private collectors worldwide. I have even caught the eye of a few famous actors and have had multiple interactions with model and prop makers that work in the film industry. Some of which now own some of my creations. My work has been published and sent all over the world.
