This model kit was originally the kit offered by MPC. The kit itself is long out of production and asks a decent price tag in its original kit form. I'm a model & prop maker so a model in it's box is just that....

For this particular build I wanted to do a diorama. After all what's a Snowspeeder without snow? Because this was a kit from the 80's it lacked details that the newer kits may offer. So I just went ahead and did my own details/weathering.

Because I wanted to do a crash scene from ESB I had to think of what brought the Snowspeeder down in the first place? The kit came with 2 pilot figures that look like blobs, so they were never going to be an option. A post crash scene was the way to go! With the canopy being open the first thing I did was scratch build seatbelts. Next was proper cockpit details.

Rather than just having the canopy open and that's it, I decided that I would put laser blast damage that went in one end & out the other. Just above where the pilots heads would have been. I cracked the glass and cut it to resemble what a laser hit might do.. I also tinted the glass for effect. Although a tough hit to take through the cockpit, this alone may not bring down the speeder?

I needed another laser hit that would for sure cripple the speeder to it's doom. For this I put a laser hit on the port side that took out the engine and flying surfaces. When the Snowspeeder hit the snow it bent the blaster cannons and other surfaces of the craft. This was achieved by simply heating the plastic and bending to the desired shape. The snow itself is a combination of foam & sugar.

Once the foam was shaped & placed on the base I sprayed glue and sprinkled the sugar over. After that I clear coated it.. I have been building for over 27 years and I have found myself doing work for Museums and private collectors worldwide. I have even caught the eye of a few famous actors and have had multiple interactions with model and prop makers that work in the film industry.

Some of which now own some of my creations. My work has been published and sent all over the world. My work is very precise and is not cheaply or hastily made. You can visit me on Facebook.
